What’s it like living in the Gold Coast?

“Life on the Gold Coast is surreal. I wake up every morning and I’m just so lucky to be somewhere that’s this beautiful.”

Why did you choose to study physiotherapy at Bond University?

“I chose to study physiotherapy at Bond because the program aligned a lot with how I learn as a student, and they offered me some great opportunities with hands-on experience throughout the program. Those are the big ones, but obviously the Gold Coast—it was pretty much a deal breaker.”

These are just the reasons why Kendal chose Bond, but there’s a long list of why Canadians should consider studying physio at Bond. The small cohort, great student support, 1,400 clinical practice hours, and admissions requirements round out the reasons why Bond physio is so great!

What’s are the learning facilities like for Bond physio students?

“Most of my classes are delivered at the Bond Institute of Health and Sport. We have a simulation ward where we can work with hospital beds and things we’d see on placement or in the real world. We also have a performance centre, gymnasium, anatomy labs, as well as PBL (problem-based learning) classrooms where we do a lot of group-based learning.”

Learning in a state-of-the-art facility with health and sports laboratories, used for research and athlete testing, and by health, sports science, OT, and physiotherapy students certainly brings learning advantages!

What are the professors and teaching methods like for Bond physio students?

“I think the professors do such a good job at knowing you personally and that was something I didn’t experience in my undergraduate degree. It was so fun learning from them and you know, gaining those relationships. I’ve never met people, especially professors, that just can take any bit of time out of their day to help you out, even [for] the silliest of questions.”

Bond physio students also get incredible hands-on, real-world learning opportunities, like working with the World Surf League!

What do you plan to do after you graduate from Bond?

“I think I’m most proud of my resilience through the program and the confidence and independence I gained by being here is something I’ll carry into my career absolutely. I’m just excited for what’s to come. I don’t really care where I go. I think just taking any opportunity to learn is something that I’ve always prioritized. There’s just so many different options in this career. That’s what makes physiotherapy so special.”
