Australian physiotherapy degrees qualify for Pre-Approved Credentialling Pathway

11 March 2025

We have great news for Australian-trained physiotherapists—getting licensed in Canada just became faster and easier!

The Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators (CAPR) has introduced a new Pre-Approved Credentialling Pathway (PACP), now available for physiotherapists trained in select countries, including Australia.

What is the PACP and how does it benefit you?
As an internationally trained physiotherapist, your first step to becoming licensed in Canada was to have your credentials assessed by CAPR. This assessment used to take at approximately 12 weeks and included evaluating educational standards, clinical placements, etc.

Over time, CAPR routinely saw Australian-trained physiotherapists meet these requirements and perform well on the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE). Because of this, CAPR decided that Australian-trained physiotherapists are now eligible to receive pre-approval via the PACP.

What does this mean for you?
The new PACP can dramatically shorten your licensing process. Word on the street is that Australian-trained applicants are getting approved in as little as three days to three weeks!

This fast-tracked process will allow you to start your licensing exams and begin your career in Canada sooner.

For more details or if you have any questions, please reach out to CAPR directly at 416-234-8800 or credentialling@alliancept.org, and visit Pre-Approved Credentialling Pathway.
