Overview

Occupational therapists support people of all ages to build skills, participate in everyday life and improve their health and wellbeing across diverse settings.

As part of Flinders University’s Allied Health suite, you’ll learn in a shared first-semester model alongside other health disciplines, building strong interprofessional capabilities before progressing into occupational therapy-specific study in Semester 2.

You’ll become a client-centred, culturally responsive practitioner with the skills to work across all areas of occupational therapy practice including hospital, rehabilitation, mental health, paediatrics, aged care, and community settings.

Program

A Bachelor of Occupational Therapy prepares you for a rewarding career supporting people to live meaningfully and participate fully in everyday life.

Graduates work across a range of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation services, mental health, disability, aged care, schools and community services, as part of collaborative healthcare teams.

In your first semester, you’ll complete core foundational topics alongside students from other allied health disciplines before progressing into occupational therapy-specific learning.

In your second and third years, you’ll build core occupational therapy knowledge through applied learning, simulation and increasing clinical experience.
Placements begin from Year 2 and continue throughout the degree, supporting the development of safe, ethical and effective practice.

In your final semester, you’ll consolidate your learning through advanced clinical placements and transition-to-practice experiences that prepare you for entry into the profession.
You’ll apply clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice and professional judgement in complex and real-world healthcare environments.

You must have a high school diploma. Biology is recommended.
