Registered nurses play an important role in the healthcare system and are involved in a range of activities that are designed to provide care and support to people with acute, chronic and complex health conditions. As a nursing student at UOW, you’ll play an integral part in the treatment of individuals, families, communities, and whole populations.

Program

The Bachelor of Nursing at UOW prepares you for professional practice as a registered nurse by providing knowledge and skills to think critically and reflect across all aspects of nursing practice. This program incorporates a range of nursing subjects, basic sciences, research, ethics, and professional subjects relevant to contemporary nursing practice.

While studying nursing at UOW, you will develop an increased understanding of how social, cultural, economic, legal, political and ethical forces impact the nursing profession and health care.

Practical Placements
There will also be plenty of opportunities to apply theory to practice during 21 weeks  (840 hours) of professional workplace experience undertaken in hospitals, aged-care, and community facilities. You’ll be immersed in all elements of nursing throughout your studies to ensure you are ready for your transition to practice.
