Four Australian universities have secured spots in the global top 30, with a total of nine institutions across six states and territories cracking the elite top 100 worldwide.

The QS World University Rankings is a premier annual leaderboard evaluating over 1,500 institutions globally. To determine a university’s overall standing, QS scores institutions across five core pillars, each weighted differently:

• Employability and Outcomes (20%): Graduate employment rates and employer reputation
• Global Engagement (15%): International faculty ratio, international student ratio, and international research networks
• Learning Experience (10%): Faculty-to-student ratio (teaching capacity)
• Sustainability (5%): Environmental and social impact of the institution

Each year the EIU surveys citizens in 173 cities around the world about how livable their city is based on 30 qualitative and quantitative factors in five general categories: education, healthcare, culture and environment, infrastructure, and stability. The end result is a list of the world’s cities that have the best living conditions.

Australia continued to lead the way, taking home the most spots in the top 10 lineup. Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide even moved up from their existing top 10 spots in 2025.
