6 of the world’s top 100 universities are in Australia for 2025

The latest QS World Rankings for 2025 are out! Six of OzTREKK’s Australian universities made the top 100, with four of those making the top 50.

What Are the QS World Rankings and How Did Australia Take Top Spots?

Since 2004,  the QS World University Rankings has published a list of universities ranked overall and by individual subjects. This year, the QS World University Rankings scored more than 1,500 universities in 105 countries

The University of Melbourne had an overall score of 88.9, with especially high scores in the categories of International Student Ratio (99.8), Sustainability (reflects social and environmental sustainability) (99.6), Academic Reputation (98.5), and International Research Network (97.4).

The University of Sydney came in close behind with an overall score of 87.1, with notable category scores in International Faculty Ratio (100), International Student Ratio (99.4), Sustainability (reflects social and environmental sustainability) (99.2), International Research Network (98.3), and Employment Outcomes (97.7).

Monash University had an overall score of 81.2, with high scores in the categories of International Faculty Ratio (100), International Students Ratio (100), Sustainability (reflects social and environmental sustainability) (96.7), and International Research Network (96.7).

The University of Queensland earned an overall score of 80.2, with high scores in Faculty Ratio (100), International Students Ratio (100), International Research Network (96.7), and Sustainability (reflects social and environmental sustainability) (96.7).

The University of Western Australia had an overall score of 65.2, with notable scores in the categories of International Faculty Ratio (100), International Students Ratio (99.8), and Citations per Faculty (98.8).u

The University of Adelaide had an overall score of 63.8, with notable scores in the categories of International Faculty Ratio (100), International Student Ratio (99.3), and Sustainability (reflects social and environmental sustainability) (95.7).

How Do Canadian Universities Rank in Comparison to Australian Universities?

Compared to Australia’s six top 100 institutions, four of Canada’s universities fell within the top 100 overall. University of Melbourne and University of Sydney edged out all Canadian schools for the top 20.
