Monash University

The instructors are mostly very good. The course structure is relatively disorganized but I appreciate that they are always collecting our feedback and aiming to improve the program. I love the variety in learning and how they are always taking steps to help you succeed. Monash Medicine program is run on Federation University campus, which is rural. But the Clayton campus is absolutely gorgeous and has an immense amount of services and support available to students. The Federation University can be pretty isolating at times.

Its a full course load and feels like a full time job. The instructors are lovely and truly looking out for you. You learn a lot of manual handling techniques and there is a lot of emphasis on being a good clinician. Most of the lectures are online and you are expected to view them before classes (there is almost 10-12 lectures throughout the week that you have to view for the courses). There is one day to consolidate all your learning and to take a break. It is quite stressful but at the same time quite rewarding when you look back at all the things you have learned. Most of your classes are 1-2 hour tutorials minus practical class which is around 4-6 hours per week (honestly my favourite class). Most of your mark comes from your exams but there are a lot of assignments as well. There is one club on campus for physiotherapy but I would not be able to talk about it as much as they were inactive throughout the majority of the semester I started.

For the DPT program, you are in Peninsula campus. It is a quiet campus that is around an hour and half away from downtown Melbourne and almost forty-five minutes away from the big campus (Caulfield). Coming from a Canadian university (UWO), it is a bit different compared to what I was used to (ex. having to pay for the university gym and transit as they are not included in tuition). If you enjoy a quiet campus with very hands on teachers and a small cohort, you will love it here. There aren’t many clubs/societies in this campus compared to Clayton HOWEVER, there are a lot of free events (with lots of free food throughout the week)! It is also nice to be on a campus that is primarily healthcare-related (OT, PT, Nursing, Paramedicine) and people are very sweet and kind.

It’s a great university and highly ranked in the world. My first year is in a rural town called Churchill and although there isn’t much to do around here, it makes my connections with my peers and friends so much more special. Learning clinical skills and more specifically putting them to practice at clinical placement has been an absolute highlight for me. It’s great to feel like a real doctor so early in my education. Examinations have been fair so far and the professors are all very chill and helpful. If you stay on top of the content and don’t fall too behind you will do absolutely fine. There are lots of opportunities to attend different workshops. I really enjoyed the surgical workshop where we learned to do hip replacements, suture and insert chat tubes.

Monash is a great school with excellent teaching staff and good program structure. The first year rural based program is a little tough to adjust to at first but it grows on you! As an international student it’s hard to get around but the domestic students are really nice and helpful! The instructors are great and there are many hands-on opportunities. The classes typically run monday to friday 9-5 which sometimes can be long but no evening classes help to make a consistent study schedule. There are events that are put on by the student council but sometimes transportation is not the easiest.

The campus buildings at Clayton are new and well-equipped, which makes it a great place for learning. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the learning environment here. The staff are very helpful and always ready to assist, whether it’s with academic support or offering advice. The mix of good facilities and a supportive community makes studying here a positive experience.

The Data Science program covers important topics like statistics, data exploration, and data visualization. The professors are friendly and always ready to help. However, it’s important to have a good knowledge of math, as it plays a big role in the coursework. Overall, it’s a strong program with good resources that can help you start a career in data science.

The instructors are excellent and consummate professionals. Most of them work in the relevant field and are highly experienced and knowledgeable. They also will help when asked. The facilities are ok. However, there is one club at school and events are held sparingly. It’s definitely worth it and a great experience.

Monash University, specifically the grad med program, is a very close-knit group experience that takes away the stress from getting specific grades and actually gives you the proper hands-on training as early as possible to become better medical professionals, something most others schools do not offer. Instructors are very calm and patient and absolutely willing to teach.

Monash Law is very targeted, professional, and savvy. The campus is situated in the legal precinct of downtown Melbourne and exudes legal excellence. The program is very intense and comprehensive. Be prepared to work!

Small classes (just under 100 for the cohort but 20-40 for tutorials), very welcoming and friendly staff and student community, love being rural in first year, lots of hands-on learning (clinical skills, placement at the hospital, and cadaver labs). Being in Churchill for first year has been a really calm place to study but still has a solid library, study spaces, and gym facilities.

Unfortunately, there’s the expectation that students travel to Melbourne 1-3 times per month for the cadaver session. The program is fast-paced and stressful because it’s just one year of class-based learning before three years on placement, but we get enough holiday time.

They picked me up right from the airport when I landed, kept me updated with Covid info, have beautiful campuses, really tight knit student groups.

Monash offers an excellent law program and provides great organized activities. Monash is currently lacking other Canadian students. Lecturers have all been awesome so far. Can’t think of anything I have disliked about the program.

I like how quickly we got to the hands on learning. Facilities on campus, events on campus. I don’t like how some of the other course content is delivered.

I do like my university. I’m currently finishing up my first courses here but I have enjoyed the university thus far. The program is fantastic. It’s very engaging and there is a lot of reading involved but the lecturers and librarians have ensured that we are given all the tools and resources we need to do well.

Monash is a great place where live and make friends. It is more than just studying, indeed there are an infinite number of clubs to join and different activities to do. The program is very careful about its students well being and correct coping with the amount of studying to do. Students are then constantly monitored, to be sure that all the support they need is given to them. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. It is really easy to make friends and share facts, learning about others’ great life events. The weather has also been terrific so far.

Fantastic school, really good opportunity to learn clinical skills.

The small cohort, and how you get to know everyone by name. It is located in the heart of the legal precinct and gives great networking opportunities for that reason.

I only have good things to say about my program so far. The class sizes are great and the school really eases you into the program. I find that everything is really manageable so far. The school has a peer mentor program which I really like. It’s great to have a student ahead of you that you can ask for guidance from.
