Why Study Here?

As one of Australia’s largest universities, Canadians enjoy the resources and facilities available at Monash University and the diverse international student population on campus.

Campuses
Monash has four campuses in Australia:

  • Clayton (approx. 20 km from downtown Melbourne)
  • Caulfield (near downtown Melbourne)
  • Peninsula (by the sea)
  • Parkville (Pharmacy College in downtown Melbourne)

Monash University’s Australian campuses are in and around the city of Melbourne, the capital of the state of Victoria. Melbourne has long-been considered Australia’s “cultural capital” and its “sporting capital.”

The Economist Intelligence Unit has consistently ranked Melbourne at or near the top of their list of the most liveable cities in the world. Melbourne has been independently recognized for its safety, culture and environment, education, recreation, infrastructure and climate.

Beaches are located within an hour of most Monash campuses—a few minutes away from some—while some of Victoria’s most popular ski resorts are just three hours away. From fashion, food and fun downtown, to national parks, wineries and beaches in surrounding areas, Melbourne offers an excellent base for students.

Weather
Melbourne’s climate is temperate and is one of a few places in Australia that enjoys four distinct seasons. In summer, with many days frequently over 30 degrees Celsius, the city’s beaches are popular, while the mountains near the city are frequently snow-capped during winter. Winter temperatures are cool to brisk with the average range from 7°C to 14°C.

“…love being rural in first year”

Small classes (just under 100 for the cohort but 20-40 for tutorials), very welcoming and friendly staff and student community, love being rural in first year, lots of hands-on learning (clinical skills, placement at the hospital, and cadaver labs). Being in Churchill for first year has been a really calm place to study but still has a solid library, study spaces, and gym facilities. Unfortunately, there's the expectation that students travel to Melbourne 1-3 times per month... Read More

“Monash offers an excellent law program”

Monash offers an excellent law program and provides great organized activities. Monash is currently lacking other Canadian students. Lecturers have all been awesome so far. Can't think of anything I have disliked about the program.

“I like how quickly we got to the hands on learning”

I like how quickly we got to the hands on learning. Facilities on campus, events on campus. I don't like how some of the other course content is delivered.

“The program is fantastic.”

I do like my university. I'm currently finishing up my first courses here but I have enjoyed the university thus far. The program is fantastic. It's very engaging and there is a lot of reading involved but the lecturers and librarians have ensured that we are given all the tools and resources we need to do well.

“The people are extremely friendly and welcoming.”

Monash is a great place where live and make friends. It is more than just studying, indeed there are an infinite number of clubs to join and different activities to do. The program is very careful about its students well being and correct coping with the amount of studying to do. Students are then constantly monitored, to be sure that all the support they need is given to them. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. It is really easy to make friends and share facts, l... Read More

“…great networking opportunities”

The small cohort, and how you get to know everyone by name. It is located in the heart of the legal precinct and gives great networking opportunities for that reason.

“The school has a peer mentor program which I really like. It’s great to have a student ahead of you that you can ask for guidance from.”

I only have good things to say about my program so far. The class sizes are great and the school really eases you into the program. I find that everything is really manageable so far. The school has a peer mentor program which I really like. It's great to have a student ahead of you that you can ask for guidance from.
