University of Queensland Jump Start program!
Attention all future University of Queensland students! Are you heading to UQ for the semester 1, 2014 intake? If you’ve nodded, then you should be aware that UQ provides some of the best student and academic services and facilities in Australia! The University of Queensland is dedicated to enhancing your first year student experience and is as serious about your success as you are.
Student Services’ “New2UQ” team can help you make a smooth transition to university life. The University of Queensland is excited to invite you to the Jump Start Academic Preparation Program (JSAPP). The JSAPP is FREE.
Head over to the St. Lucia campus! The program will be held February 18 – 21, 2014, from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (includes Herston students).
What will I get from Jump Start?
The JSAPP allows students to get a taste of university life. You get to find out about the academic side of uni, including information sessions on academic expectations, study skills, essay writing, university-level critical thinking and so much more! You are also provided the opportunity to talk to experienced students and ask them lots of questions throughout the program.
The program also helps you to become familiar with the university campus, meet other students in your faculty, and meet your peer mentor, so that your first weeks at uni are less daunting. Many first-year students say that they thought they were prepared for uni, but then discovered they weren’t, and this can sometimes include graduate international students! Yes, you’ve been to university, but it doesn’t hurt to familiarize yourself with the UQ campus and the UQ way of life.
Although the JSAPP is free of charge, there are limited places available in the program. Please be sure to register as soon as possible to secure your place in the program. It is expected you attend the full program.
