Sydney Dental School celebrates Women in Dentistry 2014

10 September 2014

On Aug. 15 the Sydney University Dental Association (SUDA) and the Alumni Society of The University of Sydney (DASUS) partnered with the Recent Graduates Committee of the Australian Dental Associations (NSW Branch) to host the 2014 Women in Dentistry Cocktail Evening.

Sydney Dental School students—women!

In its third year now, the 2014 Women in Dentistry cocktail exceeded expectations with more than 120 guests attesting to a need for students and younger alumni seeking support and mentoring from their more experienced teachers and colleagues who rallied to the call to share personal and professional experiences.
Alumni, faculty staff, students and dental professionals also attended to hear Sydney Dental School Associate Professor Elizabeth Martin speak about her career choices and accomplishments upon leaving dental school. It was lovely to see such a highly regarded member of the faculty in a more personal light – and realise that she, too, had overcome challenges and roadblocks to get to where she is today. In her down-to-earth manner, Associate Professor Martin encouraged everyone to follow her/his interests and develop a career that provides lifelong learning. The Women in Dentistry committee would like to thank A/Professor Martin for giving her time to speak at this event.
