Sydney places particular emphasis on international and comparative law while also maintaining a strong focus on taxation, commercial, corporate and criminal law. The school offers research expertise in specialist areas such as climate and environmental law, as well as health and medical law.
Sydney Law School offers one of Australia’s largest and most specialised coursework and research programs in law, with 80 percent of units offered on an intensive basis. The coursework program reflects the latest developments within the practice and profession of law.
Domestic practitioners and international visitors teach 60 percent of the program ensuring that teaching is informed by current practice relevance and leading edge ensuring Sydney law graduates will be able to use information effectively in a range of contexts.

The Sydney JD program has a strong global focus on international, comparative and transnational aspects of law. Students are required to study Public International Law and Private International Law as part of their program. The Sydney Law School equips students with the skills to work in a competitive legal environment of the 21st century, so that they can move with confidence across national boundaries when providing legal advice.
