The UQ Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is a well-established, professionally accredited learning framework that is well-received by both students and the profession. The program has evolved into one of Australia’s most comprehensive and well-respected pharmacy degrees, both domestically and internationally.
The undergraduate program runs over 4 years, full time, after which graduates are eligible to complete a 48-week paid internship in either community or hospital pharmacy.
The program prepares graduates for the contemporary role of the pharmacist in society ensuring that patients optimise medication usage. Initial courses on chemical, physical, and biological studies lead to professional specialties in later years.
Students accepted into the UQ School of Pharmacy enter a progressive, industry-driven educational environment that consistently employs and sets new standards in professional preparation. Major in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics
The Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics major caters to graduates who wish to pursue a research-focused career in their future practice in hospital pharmacy, in the pharmaceutical industry, or in academia.
Accredited Program
On completion of the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and internship, graduates are eligible for registration as a pharmacist in Australia, and graduate qualifications in pharmacy from Australian universities are recognized internationally. Canadian graduates who wish to become a pharmacist upon their return to Canada should consult the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada for accreditation and certification information.

Many international students with prior study (especially those with a science background) are able to enter directly into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) program. If credit is awarded, students can undertake an additional course in their first and second semester of enrollment and complete the program in three years instead of four!
