OzTREKK students report that the UQ pharmacy program is one of the best in the world. After all, who wouldn’t want to study at incredible facilities and be taught by world-renowned professors?
The UQ Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is a well-established, professionally accredited learning framework that is well-received by both students and the profession. The undergraduate program runs over 4 years, full time, after which graduates are eligible to complete a 48-week paid internship in either community or hospital pharmacy.
The program prepares graduates for the contemporary role of the pharmacist in society ensuring that patients optimise medication usage. Initial courses on chemical, physical, and biological studies lead to professional specialties in later years.
Students accepted into the UQ School of Pharmacy enter a progressive, industry-driven educational environment that consistently employs and sets new standards in professional preparation. Students enjoy the support of a highly experienced and supportive team of award-winning academic staff, as well as state-of-the-art facilities offered within the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE).
The program is structured around six themes:
- Quality Use of Medicines
- Dosage Form Design
- Drug Discovery
- Data Analysis in Pharmacy
- Biological Fate of Drugs
- Social and Professional Aspects of Pharmacy
Major in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics
The Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics major caters to graduates who wish to pursue a research-focused career in their future practice in hospital pharmacy, in the pharmaceutical industry, or in academia.
