As an exercise and sports science student, you’ll undertake studies in Bond University’s $45-million, state-of-the-art Bond Institute of Health & Sport. It’s a world-class teaching and training facility, focusing on promoting healthy behaviours and lifestyles through research to better the lives of students, athletes, and the wider community.

Located just 4 km from the Bond University main campus, the institute is adjacent to the Robina Hospital, the CBus Super Stadium, and the Robina train station.

You’ll be studying in clinical skills laboratories designed to simulate real medical environments, and modern teaching and research laboratories with the latest scientific equipment. The purpose-built tutorial rooms cater to small-group learning and lecture theatres are equipped with video streaming, wireless, and an audience-response system. The building also features a dedicated computer laboratory, conference and meeting facilities, a multimedia study centre, and an on-site café.

The facilities at the institute not only support the university’s student athletes and premier health and sport programs but also attract international athletes and sport organizations for elite competition preparation.

Program

The Bond University Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science is a 2-year program that equips you with comprehensive knowledge and applied skills in health, fitness, and sport performance. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic and applied sciences as they apply to personal and community health and fitness, and sport performance at all levels.

Throughout the degree, you’ll engage with and deliver a wide range of athlete testing, performance analysis, exercise prescription, and delivery for healthy individuals and non-athletes, as well as strength and conditioning opportunities for athletes. You will also learn, engage and collaborate with other allied health professional students including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and nutrition and dietetics, which models the current best practice for allied health care.

The program prepares graduates for exciting career opportunities in exercise science, sports science, and strength and conditioning as well as provides an accelerated undergraduate pathway to graduate-entry studies including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, dietetic practice, and high-performance sports science.

Accelerated Undergraduate Pathway to Doctor of Physiotherapy
The 2-year Doctor of Physiotherapy program offers an innovative problem- and case-based learning model of physiotherapy education to prepare entry-level physiotherapists for their roles and responsibilities as first-contact practitioners. The program integrates the clinical, pathological, and related basic sciences with the physiotherapy knowledge, skills, and professional behaviours and attitudes required to examine, diagnose and treat physiotherapy clients. Admission Requirements

Completed high school diploma
You must have a high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 65% with English and general mathematics, and one of chemistry, physical education, physics, or biology.

 

Progression to Doctor of Physiotherapy
Progression into Bond’s DPT program requires a minimum academic requirement of 2.0/4.0 or equivalent and successful completion of an interview. There is a 1-semester gap between completion of the Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science and the start of the Doctor of Physiotherapy.
