University of Melbourne Doctor of Physiotherapy

1 December 2014

The Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) is Australia’s first three-year entry to practice graduate master’s-level program. With its first intake in 2011, the DPT creates a new benchmark in 21st-century education.
Building on prior learning at an undergraduate level, the Melbourne DPT provides students with a comprehensive, integrated course in the theory and practice of physiotherapy to assess, diagnose and treat disorders of human movement.
This degree is focused on the future needs of the physiotherapy profession—both locally and internationally—and was developed through extensive consultations with physiotherapists, students and leaders in the public and private health and research sectors.
With highly credentialed and networked lecturers, mentors, and connections with leading hospitals, research institutes and the private sector, the Doctor of Physiotherapy is designed to meet the current and future needs of students, patients and the changing nature of the health workforce.
