A few of our favourite things

23 December 2020

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! All of us at OzTREKK would like to thank all of our OzTREKKers for making 2020 such a great year, despite the sometimes overwhelming “dark cloud” that is COVID.

All of us at OzTREKK wish you the best holidays ever! Stay safe!

We did a little office survey this morning and here are few more of our favourite things (not counting warm woolen mittens and whiskers on kittens)….

Adam: Turkey dinner and holiday smorgasbords. And of course, my wonderful family.

Jaime: Stuffing.

Nicole: My favourite part of the holidays is watching someone I love open a gift that I bought them that I know they will love.

Amanda: I love the beauty of the snow and nature at this time of year. My favourite thing is taking slow walks in the crisp air with the sunshine on my face, then sitting by the woodstove afterward.

Shannon: Aside from being with family and friends (in normal circumstances), my holiday musts are watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, adding Irish cream to my coffee on a regular basis, and stuffing myself full of cookies and clementines.

Julie: Nostalgia, of course. Old-fashioned Christmas lights (frosted), old-fashioned Christmas music (Bing! Nat! Andy! Lawrence Welk! Rosemary! Johnny!), and old-fashioned Christmas movies.

Krista: Food, friends and family! Slow mornings with coffee and Baileys by the fire. Snowshoeing in the woods with the dogs! ❤

Heather: My favourite thing is to do Christmas baking while listening to some good Christmas tunes. It is something that I have passed down to my children to enjoy too! There are too many favourites, but some of my top faves are Josh Groban, *N SYNC, 98 Degrees, Celine Dion, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Blair: Even though this year is different, I love the Christmas lights, exchanging cards with a long list of friends I haven’t seen in a while, and snuggling up with my dog to watch some cheesy Christmas movies (you know the ones, on a certain greeting card company channel 😉). Here’s to 2021!

Matthew: Saving Christmas by using duct tape to fix the Christmas tree stand that your girlfriend broke. Pulling out my Academy Award acting skills to act excited for superhero-themed socks that are four sizes too small.

Meghan: Christmas lights (how cozy they make the house feel), snow, and hot toddies!

Sarah: My favourite thing about Christmas is preparing! I love decorating, buying and wrapping gifts, making cookies and everything in between.

Chris: The original How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the others try too hard), and my eclectic Christmas playlist.

Charlynn: All the family time, even if it can’t be in person. It’s a time when all the family is excited to get together and laugh about the year. Getting to see everyone open the presents you bought them. The lazy days after Christmas when you make no plans and just do nothing! 😊

Kaylee: I love holiday gatherings and get-togethers. This year they’ll be online, but at least I’m still able to connect with them! Bring on the trivia! 😊 I’m a huge fan of giving gifts. I love to buy them and wrap them and put thought into the whole process. So, the gift-giving nature of the holidays is one I really enjoy.

Leanna: The look on someone’s face when you surprise them with the best gift ever! Feast, feast, feast!

Lara: The first few moments of Christmas morning, when the shopping rush is over, the goodies are baked, the presents are wrapped; the silent stillness and the sweet anticipation of a day of fun and surprises.

Alexa: The beautiful light displays. ✨ Spending time with my family. 🎄 Christmas baking! 🍪🍬
