International student satisfaction high at Griffith University

17 October 2018

Griffith University has again achieved excellent overall student satisfaction scores of above 90% in both the International Student Barometer (ISB) and the English Language Barometer (ELB) 2018 surveys.

Both of the surveys look at the student experience across all areas of the international student experience, from pre-arrival (including satisfaction with agents), through to the student experience on campus and in the classroom, as well as overall satisfaction.

Griffith University’s Internationalisation Strategy sets an objective of being in the top 10 for key dimensions underpinning the international student experience, as measured by the ISB, and Professor Sarah Todd is delighted that this objective is being met.

“We will continue to work with everyone involved in the support of international students to ensure these results are reinforced and are always looking for ways to further improve and enhance the support and services we provide all international students,” Vice President (Global), Professor Sarah Todd, said.

Professor Todd also noted the contribution made by their agent network (Helloooo, OzTREKK!) in ensuring that positive experience starts right from students’ first inquiries into studying at Griffith.

The ISB showed Griffith ranked particularly highly on both the arrival experience and the student experience dimensions, with 94% of students either very satisfied or satisfied with their arrival and 90% of students happy with their life at Griffith to date, compared with global averages of 89% and 87% respectively.

Griffith Mates
Students’ satisfaction with their welcome, opportunities to make friends from other countries, and the social activities available when they first arrived, was particularly high. The Griffith Mates, a group of volunteer senior students committed to supporting international students with their transition to life in Australia and studying at Griffith, provide a friendly welcome to thousands of students each year right from when they land at Brisbane airport, and this is an area we are committed to continuing to enhance given its critical importance in ensuring a positive experience overall.

The ELB showed Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) students’ overall satisfaction with living at 94.7%, which compares favourably with a global overall rating of 90.3%. Student satisfaction relating to studying and living at both our Brisbane-based and Gold Coast campus English Language Institutes was positive, with students rating highly the campus environment and GELI facilities.
