Murdoch University’s School of Law and Criminology maintains close ties with the legal profession and industry, and continuously reviews their curriculum to meet the evolving demands of modern society. Initiatives include creating units in cybercrime, law, and technology, among others.

The nationally recognized law clinic at Murdoch University provides students with the opportunity to offer legal services to real clients while being supervised by qualified practitioners. Murdoch’s well-established mooting program enables students to refine their advocacy skills and participate in competitions. Meanwhile, the criminology program offers the Cold Case Review Program that allows students to work on real cold cases with police departments from around the world. Additionally, students in both law and criminology programs may undertake work-integrated learning, earning credit for completing work placements in organizations such as law firms, community legal centres, Australian federal police, and local government.

If you already hold a recognized degree, Murdoch’s Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) offers an accelerated pathway into the legal profession. It builds on your previous studies, equipping you with the legal knowledge, critical thinking and practical skills needed to pursue a career in law.

With a strong focus on social justice and the role of law in society, you’ll explore how legal systems shape communities and address complex issues. Murdoch’s law course combines academic study with real-world experience, helping you develop the confidence to analyze cases, interpret legislation, and construct persuasive legal arguments.

You can also develop a unique specialization by combining law with your existing qualification. Whether your background is in science, health, criminology, business or the arts, you can apply your prior knowledge to areas such as personal injury and health law, criminal law, or corporate and commercial law. This combination allows you to build a distinctive skill set and expand your career opportunities across industries.

As a graduate-entry student, you may be eligible for advanced standing, allowing you to complete your law degree in as little as 3 years.

Practical Placements
Throughout your degree, you’ll gain hands-on experience through practical learning opportunities, including working with real clients in Murdoch’s clinical legal program in partnership with organizations such as SCALES Community Legal Centre. These experiences give you valuable insight into legal practice while building your professional skills.

You’ll also refine your advocacy and courtroom skills through competitions in the university’s internationally recognized mooting program, where you’ll argue simulated cases in a purpose-built courtroom environment. Combined with real-world placements through our Work Integrated Learning program, these experiences ensure you graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical capability.
