Overview

The University of Wollongong School of Law develops graduates who are independent thinkers, effective communicators and ethical problem-solvers. The UOW law school is committed to teaching excellence and providing an engaging, practical, and intellectually challenging learning experience.

Students in the School of Law learn how to use legal knowledge and critical thinking to make a real difference in their communities. They explore Australia’s legal system and its social and global contexts, while developing the political, ethical and analytical skills needed to seek justice and shape a fairer society.

Program

The Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) is for students that currently hold a degree in an area other than law and are considering a legal education to either practice law, or further your career in areas of business, government, not-for-profit and international relations. Engage with the complexities of the law as you explore how to achieve social justice when you study law at UOW.

You’ll be equipped with a comprehensive legal education that provides a thorough grounding in the law, as well as a real-world focus on practical skills and an understanding of the social and ethical context in which the law operates.

Compulsory Work-Based Placement
Undertaking a work-integrated learning experience during your university education is now a significant contributor to being competitive in securing employment in your field of choice when you graduate from UOW.

Law students will complete a Legal Internship subject. This subject is the vehicle for practical placement, completed over 4 weeks (totaling 140 hours, at 35 hours per week). It is designed to expose students to the application of the law in practice; enable students to understand the importance of developing the skills of legal research, communication, drafting, practice management, and problem solving; and enable students to observe and reflect upon the values, ethical standards, and conduct of the legal profession in practice.
