About the Wigram Allen Scholarship for the Juris Doctor Award

The Wigram Allen Scholarship is a postgraduate coursework scholarship originally founded on gifts of 381 pounds in 1867 and 500 pounds in 1883 from Sir George Wigram Allen. The original aim of the scholarship was to encourage the study of law and the funds are now used to provide commencing scholarships for the Juris Doctor program at Sydney Law School.

Benefits
The scholarship is valued at $8,000 per year and paid in two equal instalments at the census date for each semester.

Who’s eligible
All applicants must have an unconditional offer of full-time admission into the Juris Doctor (JD) program at the University of Sydney Law School and be a high academic achiever.

Applicants who apply for the Wigram Allen Scholarship for the Juris Doctor Award will automatically be considered for the C A Coghlan and A N Littlejohn Scholarship for the Juris Doctor.

About The University of Sydney Law School Juris Doctor

The Juris Doctor program has a strong global focus on international, comparative and transnational aspects of law. Students are required to study Public International Law and Private International Law as part of their program. The Sydney Law School equips students with the skills to work in a competitive legal environment of the 21st century, so that they can move with confidence across national boundaries when providing legal advice.

Semester intake: February/March each year
Application deadline: You’re encouraged to apply a minimum of 6 months prior to the program start date.

Admission requirements: ​You must have a completed undergraduate degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0 or above to apply. Please note that this is a minimum average to be eligible to apply and that your application outcome will be determined by the Sydney Law School.
