Studying Nursing in Australia
To become a registered nurse, you need to complete a Bachelor of Nursing degree, or, alternatively, you can undertake a general undergraduate degree and then progress into a two-year, graduate-entry master’s degree.
Each Australian nursing program varies in its offering, but they all include clinical placements and are accredited in their respective Australian states.
Understanding graduate and undergraduate pathways
If you have a bachelor’s degree in an area other than nursing, have a look at the postgraduate nursing degrees like the Master of Nursing (listed below), which will allow you to become a registered nurse. Practicing Nursing in Canada
All nursing professions are regulated in Canada. RNs are licensed in the province or territory in which they work. The provincial or territorial regulatory body for nursing handles the assessment of qualifications for internationally educated nurses and the scheduling of nurses to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination.
Graduates who wish to practice as a registered nurse upon their return to Canada should be aware of the certification process for foreign-trained nurses in their province of residence. For information about the Canadian certification processes for foreign-trained registered nurses, please visit the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) or contact OzTREKK.
Practicing in Australia
Graduates can register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to become registered nurses in Australia and many overseas countries.
