Program

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy program at Griffith University provides an innovative, student-centred and employability-focused curriculum with a strong emphasis on client-centred and evidence based-practice as well as experiential and inter-professional learning.

With extensive clinical placements and an honours program that sharpens both clinical and research expertise, you’ll graduate ready to make a meaningful impact across health, sport, and community sectors.

Highlights of studying the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)

  • Strong focus on evidence-based practice and interprofessional collaboration.
  • Explore how the body moves through biomedical, physical, and behavioural sciences.
  • Develop practical skills in musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory practice.
  • Your training will open doors to dynamic career pathways, from everyday practice to involvement in large-scale sporting and international events, like the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
  • Use your honours year as a launchpad for postgraduate study, such as a master’s degree or PhD, or to pursue advanced research opportunities.

Professional Placements
Gain hands-on experience through full-time supervised placements in hospitals, private practices, community health centres, and aged care facilities across Australia. You’ll work with patients in settings from intensive care and rehabilitation to sports medicine and community clinics, supported by expert clinicians and award-winning teachers. These experiences will equip you with the confidence and practical skills to step straight into professional practice.

Each clinical placement will have a different focus, such as physiotherapy within musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, neurological, or across the lifespan areas. Clinical placements will also take place in a variety of settings, such as inpatients, outpatients, community centres, or private practice. Regardless of the clinical placement focus or setting, students will be expected to safely and competently assess and treat clients in a holistic and evidence-based manner, drawing on knowledge and skill sets related to core areas of physiotherapy practice.
