The school’s dedication to research is evidenced by its extensive investment in resources and human expertise. State-of-the-art, purpose-built research and teaching facilities within the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence has placed the UQ School of Pharmacy at the very forefront of pharmacy research.
The school’s pharmacy research programs are well-developed across a diverse range of areas, but are broadly grouped into four main research strengths:

  • Pharmacometrics – Quantitation of drug effects and optimisation of study design and dosing regimens.
  • Pharmacy Education – Development, delivery and scholarship of teaching and learning as applicable to pharmacy practice and interprofessional education.
  • Quality Use of Medicines – Ensuring medicines are used in the best way possible to achieve good health outcomes.
  • Therapeutic Targeting – The discovery and optimisation of new medications and research into disease processes.

About the Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) Program at UQ

The UQ Bachelor of Pharmacy is a well-established, professionally accredited learning framework that is well received by both students and the profession. The program has evolved into one of the country’s most comprehensive and well-respected pharmacy degrees, both domestically and internationally. The undergraduate program runs over 4 years, full time, after which graduates are eligible to complete a 48-week paid internship in either community or hospital pharmacy.

About Credit Transfers

Many international students with prior study (especially those with a science background) are able to enter directly into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy. If credit is awarded, students can undertake an additional course in their first and second semester of enrollment and complete the program in just 3 years.
