Discipline of Physiotherapy at Macquarie University
The discipline of physiotherapy in the Department of Health Professions is situated in the Macquarie University Hospital precinct, in new state-of-the-art purpose-built facilities.
The department provides New South Wales’ first Doctor of Physiotherapy program, an innovative three-year extended masters degree, which commenced in 2012.
The discipline of physiotherapy also leads internationally recognised research into common neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions and offers higher degree research programs.
Association with Macquarie University Hospital
The physiotherapy program has a close association with Macquarie University Hospital, Australia’s first private hospital located on a university campus. Doctor of Physiotherapy students can take advantage of state-of-the-art facilities, collaborate on world-class research and gain advanced clinical skills through professional collaborations with public, private and non-profit organisations.
Macquarie University‘s Doctor of Physiotherapy program has been accredited by the Australian Physiotherapy Council and approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as a physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
