Students from Canada who have already completed an undergraduate degree may apply for entry into Australian dental programs at either the graduate-entry or undergraduate-entry levels.

What’s the Difference Between Undergraduate-  and Graduate-entry Dental Programs?

Undergraduate Entry: JCU Dental School launched its dentistry program in 2009, and welcomed international students for the first time in the 2012 intake at the beautiful JCU Cairns campus. James Cook University Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program accepts applicants directly from high school or from university studies.
UQ Dental School offers a 5-year, undergraduate-entry Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc), which allows students to enter the dental program directly from high school or after having partially or fully completed post-secondary studies.
Graduate Entry: The University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney recently introduced four-year, graduate-entry dental programs in Australia—the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), respectively. Canadian applicants must complete an undergraduate degree, the MCAT or DAT, and undergraduate prerequisite subjects to be eligible for admission to Melbourne Dental School and Sydney Dental School.
