Overview

The newly established School of Allied Health at Murdoch University comprises the disciplines of Exercise Science, Chiropractic, Counselling and Creative Arts Therapies, all of which are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Murdoch produces high-quality, job-ready graduates that go on to work within various public and private health care settings as well as elite sporting environments.

The school engages with the community through the university’s fully functioning Chiropractic, Counselling and Creative Arts Therapies Clinics while Exercise Science has teamed with industry to house an Exercise Physiology on campus. These clinics provide students with real-world experience and the opportunity to put theory to practice.

The school’s strong research focus is embedded into the programs, so Murdoch students are exposed to the latest techniques and evidence-based approaches to improving both physical and mental health and performance.

This comprehensive program focuses on patient-centred, evidence-based care, and builds high-level clinical capability.

  • Diagnosis and Management: Mastering assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal pain and disability, with a focus on spinal and neuromusculoskeletal health.
  • Rehabilitation and Prevention: Applying therapeutic and preventative strategies to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Professional Practice: Gaining expertise in running a private practice, including the operation of diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Integrated Clinical Learning: Completing supervised patient care through university teaching clinics and external work placements.
  • Rural and Remote Placements: Gaining valuable clinical experience in rural and regional settings, including working with Indigenous populations and communities with limited access to healthcare services.

Admissions Requirements

Completed bachelor’s degree
You must have a completed undergraduate degree in a related discipline with a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0, including 1 unit each in human anatomy and human physiology.
