14 July 2015

When asked why he wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy, Andrew responded that he chose pharmacy because he wanted to be in the health profession. “But I’m also interested in business as well. Pharmacy has a lot of components to it including science and business as well as a social side and all of these are used in community pharmacy,” he explained.
“I wanted to come to UQ because of its international recognition and I also knew of other students that had been here and are now back in Canada and well established in the profession.”
Since arriving, Andrew has found a studio apartment to live in near PACE and says “I’ve done some exploring, been to a bunch of places and found some good pizza and coffee. You become a person that is taking more initiative in things and then you will be like that moving forward. I had to take a lot of initiative just to get here.
“My favourite part of the learning at PACE is definitely the role plays with Jacqui and David. You have so much fun doing them. You get to be the patient and you get to be the pharmacist, both of them badly at first but it really opens your eyes up to the experience and makes you want to become a professional.”
Way to go, Andrew! All of us at OzTREKK are pleased you are enjoying your time in Oz!
