JCU medical students like oncology e-book

5 December 2014

JCU medical school students looking to improve their knowledge of oncology now have an easy-to-use reference at their fingertips after the publication of an e-book specifically for students.

Study medicine in a tropical location—JCU!

Clinical Oncology for Medical Students is a free e-book with contributions from 18 Australian universities.
Associate Professor Sabe Sabesan, Clinical Dean and Oncologist at the Townsville Clinical School, was a co-editor of the publication with the Cancer Council CEO Professor Ian Olver.
A/Prof Sabesan told the Cancer Council the resource was an innovative way of delivering up-to-date clinical information that would be accessible to students.
“Since oncology is a sub-speciality field that evolves rapidly, and most oncology text books target trainees and specialists, it was necessary to develop a book that met the curriculum requirements of students,” A/Prof Sabesan said.
“We anticipate that the e-book will both help to improve students’ oncology knowledge, as well as provide an easily accessible resource whenever it’s needed, ultimately helping to provide better cancer care to Australian cancer patients.”
