Griffith Dental School laboratories 2 June 2015 About the Griffith Dental School laboratories Simulation laboratory Study dentistry at Griffith Dental School At Griffith Dental School, a fully-equipped simulation laboratory is available for pre-clinical procedures. Each simulator realistically recreates a patient treatment environment with a full suite of dental instruments. This allows dentistry students to practice in an environment which reinforces ergonomics and eases the transition to clinical practice. Audio-visual aids allow team teaching and the sharing of learning materials as well as demonstrations, diagrams and manuals. High staff-to-student ratios allow team teaching and detailed and timely feedback to assist student learning. Prosthetic laboratory In the prosthetics laboratory, students will be able to experience a wide range of equipment, materials and materials systems, providing them with a hands-on learning experience. Griffith Dental School students will be given an opportunity to produce a variety of effective oral appliances including dentures, orthodontic appliances, crowns, bridges and implants. Students will also work with qualified technicians and other specialist practitioners in a modern commercial laboratory. Anatomy laboratory The anatomy laboratory facilities include a purpose-built, state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to teaching human anatomy, including dissection. The Queensland-licensed School of Anatomy has an independent Body Bequest program enabling students to access a range of human anatomical specimens, with many prepared specifically for the teaching of dental science. Griffith Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science/Graduate Diploma of Dentistry Completion of the Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science provides automatic entry into the two-year Graduate Diploma of Dentistry, during which all of the dental specialties are taught to a level where students will become caring and competent general dental practitioners.
