The PMI, which is one of the largest professional bodies worldwide with 600,000 members, has fully accredited Bond University’s Master of Project Management and Master of Project Management (Professional) degrees, after a year of extensive review and auditing.
The PMI decision applies to all nine of Bond University’s project management combined degrees, which include construction practice, business administration, sports management and architecture.
It means the university’s project management degrees now possess the trifecta of recognition from leading industry bodies PMI, Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Bond University Professor of Construction and Facilities Management, Craig Langston, said the university had joined an elite group of Australian universities to have received PMI accreditation.
“The accreditation is a clear mark of quality that signifies to the global community that our programs are of international standing,” he said.
“In particular, the Institute was impressed with Bond University’s innovative teaching methods across all core subjects, including assessment gamification, digital badging, flipped classroom and problem based-learning, and use of online resources that supplement traditional classroom interaction.
“Our approach to blended learning, which we define as ‘the harmonious integration of various student-centred learning experiences to enrich traditional face-to-face teaching, also set Bond University apart.”
Professor  Langston said along with the accreditation, the PMI (Queensland Chapter) supported Bond University through sponsorship of its premier graduate award each semester, with student Damon Barbaresco the inaugural winner for his ‘outstanding performance’.
He said Bond University also hosts monthly industry seminars for both PMI and AIPM on the Gold Coast enabling students to access practitioner expertise and to network with potential employees.
