Overview

The School of Nursing at Curtin University is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector. From the time it opened in 1974, the school has been a key part of the university’s drive to be a leader in health sciences education and research.

The school delivers undergraduate courses in nursing, oral health therapy, and paramedicine; and specialist postgraduate courses in areas ranging from diabetes and critical care, to child health and midwifery.

Program

The Master of Nursing Practice consists of 4 semesters plus a summer term coursework program. In this comprehensive program of study, you will cover a diverse range of simulated practice and fieldwork, interprofessional learning, contemporary blended learning, and advanced clinical development.

Throughout this nursing degree, you’ll be encouraged to integrate evidence-based theory and clinical practice. Theory content is comprehensive and includes physical, biological, psychological, and social sciences. 

Clinical Practice
Professional practice experience is integrated into this program. Overall, you will be required to complete 216 hours of simulated experience and 840 hours of professional practice experience in an appropriate workplace. Professional practice experience is completed full-time and will require shift work that may include night duty.

Admission Requirements

Completed bachelor’s degree
You must have a completed undergraduate degree or higher from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0 and have extensive pre-existing knowledge in human biology or physiology (1 semester).
