As Australia’s first dental school, the Sydney Faculty of Dentistry has been training dental practitioners for more than 100 years.

Academics at the Faculty of Dentistry are expert oral health professionals, and the university’s researchers are pioneering new dental treatments to improve patient outcomes. By studying with the University of Sydney, you will acquire the patient-centred, evidence-based skills required for the modern dental practice.

Research

Researchers in the Faculty of Dentistry work collaboratively to address major health issues, with a focus on two major themes, “ageing well, ageing productively” and “chronic diseases.”

Continuing education

Are you a dentistry graduate? Sydney offers courses to support lifelong learning for dental professionals. Join their community of dental professionals committed to lifelong learning and improved patient care. Attend CPD accredited workshops, clinical simulations and lectures offered across a range of specialties.

Community

The faculty is based in integrated research, teaching, and clinical settings. Co-located with Sydney Dental Hospital, Westmead Centre for Oral Health and community clinics in New South Wales and beyond, students, teachers, researchers and alumni are the foundation of the professional community.
Sydney’s engaged, socially conscious community is constantly seeking new ways to learn, share best practice and solve problems. This ensures they are able to continue to offer education of the highest calibre and conduct leading research, which translates to real-world impact.
Through professional associations, the Dental Alumni Society of the University of Sydney and the Sydney University Dental Association for students, community members have access to resources, real-world advice and, of course, each other.

Sydney Dental School’s Doctor of Dental Medicine

The Sydney Dental School’s Doctor of Dental Medicine is a graduate-entry program that has been purposefully designed to adhere to the well-rounded course structure of the North American postgraduate model, but has also maintained the sophisticated clinical training for which the University of Sydney has come to be renowned, giving students an applicable knowledge of dental health from the community to the laboratory.
