Located in central Victoria, Bendigo is less than two hours’ drive or train ride from Melbourne and has a population of more than 100,000 people.
Originally a gold rush boom town, Bendigo is full of ornate architecture and diverse cultural heritage. It’s also renowned for its food and wine scene!

- Bendigo and the region is recognized by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Gastronomy (the practice or art of choosing, cooking, and eating good food!).
- Bendigo is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, with vines dating back as far as 1855. And the Heathcote region is home to some of the oldest Shiraz producing vines in Australia.
The City of Greater Bendigo is located on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung and the Taungurung Peoples of the Kulin Nation.

Getting Around Bendigo
Various public transport options are available for travelling within Bendigo, including taxis, Uber, car and truck rental, bus services, trams, and coaches.
Like in Melbourne, your V/Line ticket gets you free local bus travel. Buses depart from the Bendigo Station for the CBD and then on to connecting services to surrounding suburbs.
