What’s the weather like?
Warm, sunny days and mild nights, 300-plus days of sunshine a year! Summer average temperatures hover around 29 degrees Celsius and these months (December to February) do feature some hot and humid days. Winter months are mild and pleasant with average maximum temperatures of around 22 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in winter averages around 9 degrees Celsius.

The School of Pharmacy at the University of Queensland is the longest established pharmacy school in Queensland, celebrating 50 years in 2010. The school offers a range of programs to meet the growing demand for highly skilled pharmacy professionals, from undergraduate Bachelor of Pharmacy, to Research Higher Degrees and Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy.In January 2010, the School relocated from its previous premises within the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus, to a brand new, purpose built facility, The Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE).
PACE is the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence. It is a state-of-the-art, purpose built facility that is home to the UQ School of Pharmacy. The $100M precinct was completed in December 2009. The PACE concept was jointly developed by the university and the whole profession in 2000, and creates a leading facility for pharmaceutical research, education and commercialisation.
PACE aims to create a new and unique health and medical precinct, with particular focus on pharmacy and pharmaceutical science.
The project has the support of the Queensland State Government, which has donated land for the project on a site adjoining the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
As one of the country’s leading pharmacy education and research precincts, PACE offers state-of-the-art teaching facilities such as interactive dispensing and counseling spaces, cutting-edge teaching laboratories, a pharmacy dedicated branch of the UQ Library and innovative private and group study spaces.
Co-located with clinical facilities at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Pharmacy’s peak professional body, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the School of Pharmacy at PACE offers students a comprehensive study experience that enables immersion in the pharmacy profession from day one of their studies.

The UQ Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is a well-established, professionally accredited learning framework that is well-received by both students and the profession. The program has evolved into one of the country’s most comprehensive and well-respected pharmacy degrees, both domestically and internationally.
The undergraduate program runs over four years, full time, after which graduates are eligible to complete a 48-week paid internship in either community or hospital pharmacy. On completion of the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and internship, graduates are eligible for registration as a pharmacist in Australia.

What do you need to get in?
1. From high school
Must have completed a high school diploma with a minimum 84% GPA. Prerequisite subjects include Grade 12 English, chemistry and math.
2. With a completed or partially completed university degree
Must have a minimum cGPA of roughly a 2.3 / 4.0 (approximately 65% average).
If you have commenced or completed a university degree or any post-secondary studies, your most recent studies will be assessed in terms of your grades. If you have not completed the prerequisite subjects in your post-secondary studies, your high school transcripts will then be assessed for prerequisite subjects.
Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Meeting minimum entry requirements does not guarantee entry to the university’s undergraduate programs.
Application for Credit
The UQ School of Pharmacy does not expect you to repeat learning that has been successfully completed at a similar level and standard elsewhere, where that work is substantially the same in content and standard as that required for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).
Many international students with prior study (especially those with a science background) are able to enter directly into year 2 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours). If full credit is awarded, you may be able to undertake an additional course in your first and second semesters of enrollment and complete the program in 3 years rather than 4.

Placements
Undertake more than 350 hours of supervised clinical placements in a range of clinical settings that include hospital and community pharmacies. The school has partnerships with over 500 pharmacies throughout rural and metropolitan Australia and overseas.
Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics
From 2015, all students can graduate from the University of Queensland’s Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours. Students who excel in the program will have the opportunity in their final year to complete a major in “Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics.” The major caters to graduates who may wish to pursue a research-focused career in their future practice in hospital pharmacy, in the pharmaceutical industry, research institutes or in academia.
