With the opening of the Gold Coast University Hospital—Australia’s first public university hospital and located next to the new Griffith Health Centre—Griffith pharmacy students are ideally placed to gain practical workplace experience as part of multidisciplinary teams.
The Griffith School of Pharmacy’s 400 partners offer clinical and research placement opportunities for students on the Gold Coast, in rural Australia and overseas. The newest of these includes a placement rotation through Indonesia where students experience hospital, community and industrial pharmacy, and a hospital/research placement in Singapore. These activities reflect the strong partnerships that the school has with clinical and research centres around the world.
Griffith pharmacy was the first pharmacy school in Australia to introduce Stage 1 Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy training, giving graduates an advantage when developing their career in medication management. The school also introduced vaccination training for students in 2013, ahead of the Queensland Government trial.
With outstanding facilities such as a professional practice laboratory with model dispensary and a dedicated formulations lab and aseptic dispensing unit, supportive staff and active student organisations, the School of Pharmacy offers students an exciting opportunity to learn pharmacy and pharmaceutical science in a vibrant world-class environment.

What do you need to get in?
You may apply directly from high school or after having partially or fully completed university studies.
1. High school diploma
You must have a high school diploma with a minimum of 76% average, with Grade 12 English. Assumed knowledge: Maths B or C and one of biology, chemistry, or physics.
2. Fully or partially completed bachelor’s degree
Griffith will assess based on courses completed/full degree. No specific GPA minimum has been listed.

Bachelor of Pharmacy
Pharmacy and pharmaceutical science at Griffith University is comprehensive, innovative and responsive to the needs of the profession and community. The 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy provides students with a strong understanding of pharmacy practice and pharmacotherapeutics that will lead graduates to registration as a pharmacist after completion of 48 weeks of internship training and compliance with all other statutory requirements.
Students in this program will study core courses in chemistry, physiology, anatomy, statistics, biochemistry, pharmaceutics and pharmacology. A series of Integrated Pharmacotherapeutics courses will enable the students to understand the relationship between drugs and their therapeutic use in different disease states. Alongside the Integrated Pharmacotherapeutics courses, students will undertake a series of Pharmacy Practice courses and Placements that will develop skills enabling students to apply their knowledge in a clinical setting.
Final-year courses provide integration of the curriculum with an emphasis on management, research and special populations.

Work-integrated learning
Work-integrated learning activities (professional placements) integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith’s commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.
In semesters 2 of years 1 and Year 3, Bachelor of Pharmacy students are required to undertake unpaid placements which require full-time attendance at a pharmaceutical workplace on a few occasions. Some placements may be outside the Gold Coast area. Opportunities for rural and international placements also exist.
