The academic pathway to become an architect in Australia is somewhat different from Canada's. At Australian universities, the professional course consists of five years of full-time study. Students initially enroll in a three-year pre-professional degree, which leads to entry into a two-year Master of Architecture program. Students also undertake a period of professional industry work experience to satisfy the relevant accrediting bodies.
Qualifications in architecture from Australian universities are recognized internationally. Graduates from Canada who wish to practice as an architect upon their return to Canada should visit the Canadian Architectural Certification Board website for certification information: http://cacb.ca
